We
could not do what we do at the PBCC without our
Grassroots Partners, friends all across
Pennsylvania who hold fundraisers and awareness
events for us.
Below is a sampling of some recent
events.
| February 21, 2010
Immaculata University, Immaculata,
PA |

Immaculata University staffer Christina Glantz's father has competed in two Olympic games as a US bobsledder. So they recently combined forces on a fundraiser with a bobsledding theme for the PBCC. Dolores Magro, PBCC staffer, got to try out the actual bobsled above!
|

The night included a buffet, DJ and Chinese auction. The Glantzes chose the PBCC because so many Immaculata students have family members who have had breast cancer, and they liked the fact that money raised for the PBCC would stay in Pennsylvania. "It seemed like you really help people. That was important." Donations are still being tallied but we think this was a gold medal-winning event!
|
| February 15, 2010
Berwick High School, Berwick,
PA |

Berwick High School held their annual Pink Out basketball game to benefit the PBCC. They sold specially-designed t-shirts and also collected donations. The funds are still being tallied but over the past two years, almost $3000 has been raised! Thanks to all the players, coaches and spectators!

The girls sold "United for the Cause" tee-shirts, raffled off a pink basketball and took donations during the game. In addition, the girls set up a "United for the Cause" table which had information about breast cancer awareness and wore 'United for the Cause" warm-up shirts.
|

Booster Club Treasurer Jofa Kauffman says, "They had a great time helping to raise awareness and look forward to holding the same event next year." Thanks go out to all the players, their families, the boosters and spectators!

|

Almost 8500 fans attended to cheer on the Lady Lions and help Penn State raise funds and awareness for the PBCC.
|

Check out this guy's pink hair! Jerry Fisher, radio announcer for Lady Lion Basketball games, dyed his hair for the event. Now that's dedication to the cause!
|

Survivors were invited to the court at halftime for a special ceremony. Final count was 277 survivors! Way to show your strength, ladies!
|

The Penn State Lion gives a high five to one of the many survivors in attendance.

October 17, 2009 Allen
Theater, Annville,
PA |
|

It's seldom that a movie from 1977 can
return to the silver screen 32 years
later and still produce laughs along
with a knock out punch! If you
attended the re-release of
Slap Shot at the Allen
Theater -- you watched one of the best
sports movies ever made -- AND had the
chance to meet one of its fun loving
stars, Steve Carlson.
|

For over three decades, Slap Shot has
been locked in a Hollywood movie vault.
On October 17th and 18th, Lebanon
County's own "Play it Again for Charity"
re-released the movie in an intimate
setting which showcased the sports
masterpiece in a benefit for the PBCC.
Steve Carlson, one of the stars of the
movie, arrived in a vintage police
cruiser! |
|

One
local movie goer was actually in the
movie. Hershey's own Jackie Singel
skated in Slap Shot's
"pinwheel" scene with other members of
the Johnstown Figure Skating Club, who
provided skating talent to the movie.
Jackie brought her actual ice skates and
plumes to the movie, along with many
friends and stories!
Here she poses with Rob Ziemba of Play it Again for Charity. |

Jon Jehrio, of Play it Again for
Charity, wore his Johnstown Chiefs
jersey for the event and posed with the
Red Robin. $1450 was raised for
the PBCC through this fun event! |
