Governor Josh Shapiro signed Act 1 of 2023 / Senate Bill 8 into law! The legislation removes all costs associated with breast MRI, ultrasound, genetic testing and counseling for Pennsylvanians at high-risk for hereditary cancers. Act 1 is now fully in effect for individuals at an increased risk for breast cancer with state-regulated insurance.

PBCC Legislation Requires Coverage for MRI, Ultrasound for High-Risk Women

The PA Senate and PA House unanimously passed Senate Bill 595, which requires insurers to cover additional screenings like MRI or ultrasound for women with very dense breasts and women at an increased risk for breast cancer. Governor Wolf signed SB 595, now Act 52, into law in July. Thank YOU all for taking action on this important legislation!
